TREATMENT IN ADVANCED AGES

Orthodontic treatment is frequently performed in older adults due to problems such as the displacement of adjacent teeth into existing gaps caused by long-term untreatment of teeth lost early; the congenital absence of permanent teeth; bite problems that prevent the installation of a healthy denture; and the formation of gaps between teeth due to the loss of surrounding tissue over time. While orthodontic treatment may be the sole and sufficient treatment for a patient, it can also be used as a preparatory step for implant or denture treatment in some of the situations mentioned above. Orthodontic treatment allows for the implementation of prosthetic procedures under ideal conditions and with a minimally invasive approach.

There is no age limit for orthodontic treatment for individuals with healthy tissues. Treatment with braces or clear aligners (Invisalign) can be performed at any age.
