EARLY AGE ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT

Orthodontics in Children
Removable Orthodontic Treatment - INVISALIGN FIRST

From an orthodontic perspective, we recommend that children be seen for the first time at age 7, except in urgent or special cases. At this age, children begin to replace their primary teeth in the front region with permanent teeth. Our permanent first molars are in place, and we have sufficient tooth support for treatment. Our front teeth are changing. In this scenario, everything is in place to begin orthodontic treatment if needed.

Although 7 years old is ideal for the first orthodontic examination, our preference is for children's first dental examination to be performed by a pediatric dentist between 6 months and 1 year of age, after the first baby teeth have erupted. This way, even if your child does not need treatment, they will have the experience of sitting in the dentist's chair. You will be informed about any future treatments that may be necessary, and your child will feel secure during appointments that may require procedures.

What can be addressed with early orthodontic treatment?

Malocclusion problems

Traumatic occlusion disorders

Narrow jaws and jaw asymmetries caused by them

Transposed (displaced) teeth

Impacted or erupting teeth

Space loss due to early loss of baby teeth

Elimination of habits (thumb sucking, tongue thrusting, mouth breathing)

Malformations or syndromes such as cleft lip and palate

If you suspect that your child may have a problem similar to those listed above, you should consult an orthodontist.

Early orthodontic treatment will almost always involve removable appliances due to the smaller number of permanent teeth compared to baby teeth. Here, we encounter two types of appliances:
